FAQs - Cartridge Program

Recycling cartridges reduces landfill waste, conserves resources, and minimizes environmental impact by repurposing used ink and toner cartridges.

The service is available to all consumers and businesses using printers with cartridges from our supporting OEM partners, including offices, schools, retail outlets, and other organizations.

We accept genuine ink cartridges, toner cartridges and bottles, drum units, fuser kits from our supporting manufacturers, and Close the Loop’s Enviroliner pens and recycled rulers.

Upon registration, order a starter kit that includes a collection box, 4 bags, tip ties, and instructions. Place your used cartridges in the box until it's full.

Visit the "cartridge" tab, select the "cartridge collection" page, and press the 'book a collection' button. For more detailed instructions, read our guide Here.

Schedule a pickup through your account on our portal, and our logistics partner will collect the bag from any metro location at no charge. For regional areas, simply drop off at your nearest AusPost.

Apart from scheduled pickups, you can drop off used cartridges at designated collection points listed on our website or any AusPost. (*Not available to RICOH users)

Cartridges are processed for refurbishing or broken down into materials for manufacturing processes, including TonerPlas.

FAQs - Battery Program

Recycling batteries prevents toxic chemicals from harming the environment and recovers valuable materials for reuse.

We accept Alkaline, Lithium, Nickel Metal Hydride, and Nickel Cadmium batteries.

Log into the portal, select the battery recycling option, click "Order Battery Box", and follow the instructions to submit a recycling request.

Yes, cover battery terminals with tape and ensure all positive (+) terminals face one side in a non-conductive (plastic) bag before placing them in the provided fire-resistant bag to prevent short circuits.

Batteries are classified as Dangerous Goods (DG) during transportation, and having terminals touch can create a hazard. To avoid any potential issues, it is best to always dispose of batteries safely using either the bags or standard tape.

No, as this is a paid program, we accept all brands of the accepted types of batteries as long as they fit within the collection unit.

Close the Loop has partnered with Envirostream for battery recycling. Envirostream's technology, based on international best practice facilities, utilizes a combination of mechanical and hydrometallurgical separation techniques to recover approximately 95% of the material.
